Cooling System Treatments
Air Cool Cleaner
Cleaning of diesel engine air cooler
What is Air Cool Cleaner?
Air Cool Cleaner is a liquid compound containing chlorinated solvents, petroleum solvents and surface active agents and is used for continuous “in-line” cleaning, during sea voyages, of diesel engine air coolers and scavenge trunk systems.
Why use Air Cool Cleaner?
Air Cool Cleaner stabilises air cooler efficiency at maximum and the in-line application prevents gradual drop in efficiency caused by air cooler fouling occurring between engine cleaning operations at shutdown.
Air Cool Cleaner can be used easily. It does not require removal of the air cooler from charge air trunking, as for manual cleaning and therefore saves time, maintenance costs and avoids risks of damaging the cooler fins when dismantling.
Air Cool Cleaner is completely combustible, leaves no residue and has no deleterious effects on engines and when diluted in water is non-flammable, non-explosive and has no flash point.
How to use Air Cool Cleaner
Mix thoroughly with fresh water at a ratio of 1:2 and is then injected by air into the charge air trunking, before the air cooler, through an atomising nozzle. Rate and frequency of application depend mainly on the condition of the engine, but for an initial dosage we recommend, for injection every 24 hours, the following:
- Engine HP. Air Cool Cleaner
- 6,000 to 12,000 1 litre to 2 litres of water
- 12,000 to 24,000 1½ litres to 3 litres
- 24,000 or more 2 litres to 4 litres
EP 1287/BIC
Anti-foulant liquid for marine cooling and ballast water.
What is EP 1287/BIC?
EP 1287/BIC is a concentrated liquid product comprising an organic amine carried in a sea water dispersible solvent.
Where to use EP 1287/BIC
EP 1287/BIC effectively controls fungal, algal, bacterial and crustaceal fouling in sea water. Its use is therefore indicated in all marine cooling systems and ballast tanks where direct sea water intake is employed.
How to use EP 1287/BIC
Direct feed from the supply container via injector or head pump is appropriate. EP 1287/BIC is not corrosive towards normal marine alloys. In practice, the film forming character of EP 1287/BIC offers corrosion inhibition to ferrous alloys.
